Job summary

Brookshire Grocery Company seeks a Grocery Department Manager to lead daily operations, optimize sales and profits, and ensure top-notch customer service. You will oversee staffing, training, and performance while maintaining product quality and food safety standards across the department.

You will manage inventory, supplier relations, displays, and daily store tasks, working in a fast-paced retail environment with a focus on teamwork and safety. Strong leadership and communication are essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; two+ years of related grocery experience preferred.
• Must obtain and maintain required certifications when applicable (Food Handler, Manager Food Safety).
• Ability to lead, train, and develop department partners.
• Strong focus on safety, accuracy, and customer service.

Responsibilities

• Carries out management responsibilities including interviewing, hiring, training and developing partners; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining partners; and scheduling, addressing complaints, and resolving problems.
• Reviews historical data to predict future sales from ads and promotions; manages inventory and in-stock levels.
• Reviews profit and loss, sales, shrink and labor data; reports findings to upper management.
• Maintains and improves sales performance, product quality, and work standards; ensures food safety compliance.
• Inspects product for quality control and rotates stock; promotes product sales through displays and suggestive selling.
• Opens/closes the store; ensures adequate staffing and safe handling of cash assets.
