Job summary

The Voleon Group seeks a hands-on Storage and Datacenter Team Manager to guide our storage engineering efforts. You will provide architectural oversight, mentorship, and hands-on support for PB-scale storage systems, including Ceph, across multiple facilities.

You will lead automation initiatives, coordinate datacenter operations, and drive runbooks while shaping priorities with company goals. Occasional on-call rotation is expected.

Qualifications

• 5+ years Linux systems administration with storage focus.
• 2+ years of team leadership or project management.
• Experience with Ceph and RAID/SAN/NAS.
• Data archiving and PB-scale backup processes.
• Hands-on in co-located datacenters.
• Ability to travel to remote datacenters.
• Bash and/or Python scripting skills.
• Ansible and infrastructure automation experience.
• Monitoring with Prometheus, Grafana, Nagios/CheckMK.
• LDAP/IPA/AD and centralized identity management knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Lead a storage, database, and systems admin team with mentorship and career development.
• Coordinate datacenter operations across facilities and manage site/vendor visits.
• Align team priorities with goals and ensure timely project delivery.
• Participate in hiring to grow the storage engineering team.
• Manage on-call schedules and incident response processes.
• Architect, implement, and maintain highly available storage systems.
• Define automation strategies for deployment and monitoring.
• Oversee PB-scale data archiving, backups, and data protection.
