Job summary
the company Storage Team in Chicago/San Francisco seeks a storage engineer to design and manage scalable data storage infrastructure. You will implement backup, DR, and disaster recovery while ensuring high availability and performance across SAN/NAS/DAS/Object Storage environments.
You will automate provisioning, monitor systems with robust scripts, and collaborate with Platform Engineering on upgrades and migrations, shaping our data storage strategy.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in Linux systems administration with a focus on storage (Ceph).
- Experience with enterprise storage systems (Purestorage, NetApp, EMC, Dell, IBM, Hitachi).
- Strong knowledge of RAID, LVM, NFS, iSCSI, multipathing and file systems (ext4, XFS, ZFS).
- Hands-on experience with storage clustering technologies.
- Proficiency in shell scripting and automation.
Responsibilities
- Design and deploy storage infrastructure (SAN, NAS, DAS, Object Storage).
- Monitor and maintain storage systems for performance and reliability.
- Plan capacity and forecast future storage needs.
- Develop backup, replication and disaster recovery strategies.
- Troubleshoot storage issues and maintain documentation.
- Collaborate with Platform Engineering on upgrades, migrations, integrations.
- Automate storage provisioning using scripting or infrastructure-as-code tools.
