Job summary

Proviso Township High Schools District 209 is seeking an Athletics/Activities Assistant Coach (stipend) at Proviso West High School to assist the Head Coach in planning, implementing, and evaluating the athletic program for student-athletes.

The role requires IHSA-certified coaching credentials or ASEP/NFHS, CPR/AED and concussion training, background checks, Title IX training, and a strong commitment to safety, inclusion, and academic development.

Qualifications

• Valid Illinois State Teaching Certificate (Type 03, 09, or 10) or ASEP/NFHS certification.
• CPR/AED certification in accordance with IHSA rules.
• IHSA concussion awareness training and safety protocol compliance.
• Background check and fingerprinting clearance per state requirements.
• Completion of federal Title IX training.

Responsibilities

• Assist Head Coach in designing drills, practices, and conditioning.
• Provide individualized feedback on technique and sportsmanship.
• Support game-day logistics and equipment management.
• Maintain inventory and coordinate repairs for athletic gear.
• Monitor IHSA rules and safety protocols; track eligibility and documentation.
• Foster positive relationships with students, parents, and staff.
