Job summary

Proviso Township High Schools District 209 is seeking an Assistant Cheerleading Coach to support the Head Coach in planning, implementing, and evaluating all aspects of the program. You will help foster a safe and inclusive environment for student-athletes, collaborating with teachers, administrators, and parents to drive a competitive program.

The ideal candidate will bring coaching experience, strong interpersonal skills, and a commitment to professional conduct.

Qualifications

• Valid Illinois State Teaching Certificate (Type 03, 09, or 10) OR ASEP/NFHS Certification.
• CPR and AED certification per IHSA requirements.
• IHSA concussion awareness training and other safety protocol trainings as required.
• Background check and fingerprinting clearance per state requirements.
• Completion of federal Title IX training for compliance.
• In-depth knowledge of the sport, rules, techniques, and strategies.
• Coaching certification through ASEP/NFHS/IHSA-approved programs.
• Concussion certification valid for two years.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with Head Coach to design and run skill-development drills and practice plans.
• Provide individualized feedback on technique, effort, and sportsmanship.
• Assist with game-day logistics, equipment setup, venue prep, warm-ups, and scorekeeping.
• Maintain and inventory athletic equipment, coordinating repairs and issuance.
• Ensure adherence to IHSA rules, safety protocols, and CPR/AED readiness.
• Support athlete eligibility tracking and manage required documentation.
• Build positive relationships with students, parents, and staff; escalate concerns as needed.
• Participate in preseason meetings, trainings, and post-season tasks; assist with scheduling and travel.
