Job summary

Proviso West High School in Hillside, IL is seeking an Athletics/Activities Assistant Coach. The role supports the Head Coach in planning, implementing, and evaluating a comprehensive program for student-athletes, ensuring safety and inclusion.

Requires IHSA/ASEP credentials, CPR/AED, and Title IX training, with strong interpersonal and coaching skills. The position is a non-tenure, extra-duty stipend appointment under the district policy, with expectations for collaboration with staff and

Qualifications

Valid Illinois teaching cert or ASEP/NFHS cert.
CPR and AED certification required.
IHSA concussion training and safety protocols required.
Background check and fingerprinting clearance.
Completion of Title IX training.
Coaching certification through ASEP/NFHS or IHSA-approved programs required for non-teaching staff.
Concussion certification valid for two years.
In-depth sport knowledge and prior coaching experience.

Responsibilities

Collaborate with Head Coach to design drills and conditioning plans.
Provide individualized feedback on technique and effort.
Assist with game-day logistics, equipment, warm-ups and scorekeeping.
Maintain athletic equipment inventory and repairs.
Monitor IHSA rules and safety protocols, CPR/AED readiness, concussion management.
Assist with athlete eligibility documentation and exits/exams.
Foster positive relationships with students, parents and staff.
Participate in preseason meetings and postseason tasks.
Develop schedules and coordinate travel logistics with staff.
Support budget management and equipment orders.
Prepare materials for parent/booster meetings and program updates.
Assist with Title IX, ISBE, IHSA compliance documentation.
