Job summary

Proviso Township High Schools is seeking an Athletics/Activities Assistant Coach to support the Head Coach in planning, implementing, and evaluating all facets of the sport, ensuring a safe, inclusive, and development-focused environment for student-athletes.

Under the Athletic Director, the coach will help build a comprehensive program, foster a positive team culture, and collaborate with students, staff, and parents. Strong coaching experience is expected and required.

Qualifications

Must hold valid Illinois teaching certificate or IHSA-certified coaching credentials.
CPR/AED certification required by IHSA regulations for high school coaches.
IHSA concussion awareness training and safety protocol knowledge required.
Background check and fingerprinting clearance per Illinois School Code.
Completion of Title IX training to ensure compliance with anti-discrimination laws.

Responsibilities

Assist Head Coach in designing skill-development drills and practice plans.
Provide individualized feedback on technique, effort, and sportsmanship.
Assist with game-day logistics including equipment setup and scorekeeping.
Maintain inventory of athletic equipment and coordinate repairs.
Monitor compliance with IHSA rules, safety protocols, and eligibility requirements.
Support athlete eligibility tracking and required documentation such as physicals and clearances.
Foster positive relationships with students, parents, and staff; communicate concerns to the Head Coach.
Participate in preseason meetings, trainings, and post-season tasks.
