Job summary

The Post Oak Hotel in Houston is seeking a Steward to join the Forbes Five-Star team. You will set up work stations, operate dishwashing machinery, and manage chemical and equipment readiness to ensure spotless service areas.

Responsibilities include dishwashing, cleaning kitchen tools, monitoring safety, and maintaining sanitation standards. Flexibility for nights, weekends, and holidays is required; prior hotel luxury/Forbes experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• 1 year of related work experience required.
• Previous hotel luxury or Forbes experience preferred.
• Certification/education (High School, College, etc.).
• Basic reading, writing and math skills.
• Ability to work flexible shifts including nights, weekends and holidays.
• Physical demands: lift 75 pounds, stand long periods, reach and bend.

Responsibilities

• Rinse/scrape dishes and operate dish machine per specs; stack clean dishes.
• Clean designated equipment and handle kitchen chemicals properly.
• Inspect equipment condition; report hazards to supervisor.
• Empty trash and manage recycling; transport waste appropriately.
• Set up and monitor pot sink according to procedures.
• Sweep and mop kitchen floors after meals or spills; maintain area cleanliness.
• Monitor chemical levels and water temperature to ensure safety.

Overview

The Post Oak Hotel is seeking a Steward join the only Forbes Five-Star Hotel in Texas. We hire passionate and professional colleagues who genuinely delight our guests through curated and authentic experiences.

The Steward will be responsible for setting up work station as required to include filling dish machine, checking chemical levels, presoaking, and gathering required set-up equipment for appropriate work stations.

Responsibilities

• Rinse/scrape all dishes. Operate dishwashing machine to manufacturer specifications and instructions. Place clean dishes in assigned storage location
• Clean designated equipment. Use and dispose of kitchen substances (such as grease) and kitchen chemicals properly
• Check the working condition of equipment and machinery in accordance with specifications. Inform supervisor of hazardous situations, emergencies or threats to the security of guests, employees or hotel assets
• Empty and clean trash cans when they become full; transport garbage containers from kitchen and work areas to dump sites; adhere to recycling regulations
• Set up and monitor the pot sink according to procedures
• Sweep and mop kitchen floor at the end of each meal period and after each spill
• Monitor chemicals and water temperature
