Job summary

MercyOne, part of Trinity Health, seeks a Sterile Processing Tech II for the evening shift to clean, sterilize, and distribute surgical instruments for patient care. You will support infection control and equipment safety in a fast-paced hospital setting.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, 6 months of related experience, and BLS certification; training in sterile processing is preferred. Cedar Falls patients may require transport duties and collaboration with nursing staff.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; sterile processing training preferred.
• Minimum 6 months of experience in sterile processing or patient-care support.
• BLS certification required.

Responsibilities

• Decontamination & Sterilization: Clean and sterilize surgical instruments and medical equipment per AAMI standards.
• Instrument preparation: Inspect, assemble, and wrap surgical trays and equipment for use.
• Inventory management: Maintain supply levels and ensure timely distribution to patient care areas.
• Equipment handling: Operate specialized medical sterilization equipment safely and efficiently.
• Patient support (Cedar Falls location only): Transport patients and assist nursing staff with pre-operative procedures.
