Job summary
Atrium Health is seeking a Sterile Processing Technician at Hugh Chatham. The role involves operating sterilization equipment, decontamination and packaging of instruments, and delivering case carts to the OR. Monday through Friday shift with weekend call.
High school diploma or GED required; sterile processing experience preferred. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and instrument-tracking software is beneficial for maintaining accurate documentation and workflow tracking in a busy hospital
Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED required.
- Sterile Processing experience strongly preferred.
Responsibilities
- Operates department machinery and reports issues to supervisor or lead.
- Performs manual and/or automated decontamination of instruments.
- Inspects instruments for cleanliness and functionality.
- Assembles instruments into containers per count sheets.
- Packages instruments per manufacturer instructions.
- Performs sterilization and verifies adequacy of the process.
- Maintains documentation of sterilization processes.
- Stores sterile containers in identified location.
- Assembles case carts and delivers to the OR.
- Participates in weekday surge plan and weekend call.
- Assists team members as needed.
- Follows policies to prevent spreading infections.
