Job summary

Penn Medicine is seeking a Central Processing Technician to support the Operating Room by decontaminating, inspecting, assembling, packaging and sterilizing surgical instruments. You will be a key member of the PeriOperative Services Team, ensuring sets are ready and dispatched, while pursuing professional development within the department.

Responsibilities include maintaining instrument tracking, complying with HIPAA and JCAHO standards, and adapting to schedule changes.

Qualifications

• Certification as a Central Processing Technician OR CRCST must be obtained within 18 months from date of hire.
• H.S. Diploma/GED required.
• 0-1 years instrument processing experience.

Responsibilities

• Cleans, decontaminates, inspects, assembles, packages, and sterilizes surgical instrumentation.
• Follows priority list, OR schedule, and requests for required instruments.
• Navigates automated instrument tracking system software. Produces a minimum of 15 instrumentation sets per day
• Demonstrates basic knowledge of the T-doc system
• Clearly documents as applicable, all processed material not tracked via electronic system
• HIPAA Compliance
• JCAHO Compliance
