Job summary

Penn Medicine seeks a Central Processing Technician to support the Operating Room by decontaminating, inspecting, assembling, packaging, and sterilizing surgical instrumentation. The role ensures proper set assembly for procedures and accurate dispatch to locations, while upholding Perioperative standards and contributing to team goals.

Qualifications

Certification as a Central Processing Technician or CRCST within 18 months from date of hire
HS diploma or GED required
0–1 year instrument processing experience
Ability to follow departmental policies and maintain HIPAA and JCAHO compliance

Responsibilities

Clean, decontaminate, inspect, assemble, package, and sterilize surgical instrumentation and linens
Follow priority list and OR schedule to prepare required instruments
Operate instrument tracking software to produce instrument sets daily
Document material processed when not tracked electronically
Coordinate with patients, faculty, and staff expectations and requirements
