Job summary

Penn Medicine is seeking a Central Service Technician to support the Operating Room schedule by decontaminating, inspecting, assembling, packaging, and sterilizing surgical instrumentation. The role is part of the Perioperative Services Team and requires adherence to department standards and the ability to dispatch instruments to the correct location.

Requires CRST/Central Service Technician certification, HS Diploma/GED, and willingness to obtain CRCST within 18 months.

Qualifications

• Certified Registered Central Service Technician required.
• CRCST certification must be obtained within 18 months from date of hire.
• HS Diploma or GED required.

Responsibilities

• Cleans, decontaminates, inspects, assembles, packages, and sterilizes surgical instrumentation.
• Follows priority list, OR schedule edits, and requests for required instruments.
• Navigates automated instrument tracking system software.
• Produces at least 15 instrumentation sets per day.
• Documents processed materials in the electronic system and supports patient, faculty, and staff needs.
• Assists clinicians in one or more surgical specialties and mentors peers.
