Job summary

Atrium Health in Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital's Sterile Processing Services seeks a Sterile Processing Supervisor to oversee instrument sterilization and maintain continuous SPD operations.

Requires a high school diploma or GED with two years of SPD experience and CSPDT certification; leadership, compliance, and cross‑department collaboration are essential.

Full-time, 40 hours per week with potential on‑call duties, and a foundation in safety practices to protect staff and patients.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED with two years' SPD experience.
• CSPDT certification required; SP Management cert encouraged within three years.

Responsibilities

• Expert in all aspects of the sterile processing cycle and ability to provide guidance and education to SPD employees.
• Assumes role and responsibilities Sterile Processing Supervisor when assigned.
• Assists Sterile Processing Supervisor with maintaining department production requirements by leading and directing SPD employees.
• Assists with case carts management and communicates issues to the Sterile Processing Supervisor.
• Uses excellent communication skills when discussing instrument needs with Sterile Processing Supervisor, SPD Liaisons, and/or OR Clinical Coordinators.
• Ensures that all equipment is functioning optimally and report issues to the Sterile Processing Supervisor and/or the appropriate department.
• Assists the Sterile Processing Supervisor with maintenance of departmental compliance logs.
• Assists SPD Manager with implementation and enforcement of departmental policies.
• Assists with special projects and interdepartmental committees as assigned.
• Protects self, co‑workers and facility by following approved policies and procedures to prevent the spread of bloodborne and/or airborne disease(s)
