Job summary

Norwalk Hospital Association is seeking a Level 1 Sterile Processing Technician to handle decontamination, sterilization, and general processing of instruments for surgical and endoscopic care.

You will work under minimal supervision, prioritize OR needs, and may assume charge on weekends. Requires High School Diploma, 3 years’ SPD experience, SPD licensure, and CBSPD/HSPA certification. Shifts are day/evening, Mon-Fri.

Qualifications

• Requires High School Diploma and minimum 3 years sterile processing experience.
• SPD licensure required.
• CBSPD/HSPA Certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prioritizes workflow of the Sterile Processing Department.
• Communicates needs to Supervisor or Lead Tech.
• Verifies that equipment for next day procedures is accounted for.
• Prepares case carts for next day procedures and resolves shortages.
• Ensures sterile processing functions comply with AAMI standards and regulations.
• Maintains supplies for the department and hospital.
• Instructs and mentors new employees in prioritizing workflow.
• Fulfills compliance responsibilities of the position.
• Upholds the organization's values and reliability.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
• Works day/evening 8-hour shifts Mon-Fri, with every other weekend.
• Duration and hours can vary as needed.
