Job summary

Kaiser Permanente in Los Angeles seeks a Sterile Processing Technician to decontaminate, clean, package, sterilize, store and distribute medical/surgical equipment per CDC, OSHA, EPA, AAMI and other guidelines. You will assemble OR sets, validate PM status, and operate SPD sterilizers in a collaborative environment.

The role requires 2 years of SPD experience, completion of an accredited sterile processing program, and certification(s). Weekend work is required on a rotating basis.

Qualifications

• Two (2) years of recent Sterile Processing experience in an acute hospital setting.
• Completion of an accredited Sterile Processing Program with 400 clinical hours or a Surgical Technician program.
• Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution - Technician Certification OR RSCT OR Surgical Technician Certificate.

Responsibilities

• Fill orders from requesting departments.
• Round on equipment and return soiled items to SPD; clean and validate PM status.
• Answer phones.
• Inventory and restock supplies and specialty carts.
• Order specialty beds and other patient equipment.
• Disassemble, clean or decontaminate surgical instruments.
• Assemble, inspect, test, wrap and date all OR sets including specialty sets.
• Operate SPD equipment (steam/plasma sterilizers, endoscope reprocessors, incubators, sealers, washers).
• Track instruments and equipment; document sterilizer records.
• Inspect sterile packages for integrity.
• Prepare OR case carts per preference cards.
• Promote customer service and collaborate with team.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
