Job Summary and Qualifications

As a Sterile Processing Technician, you ensure patient safety by cleaning, decontaminating, assembling, sterilizing, and storing surgical instruments. You play a vital role in providing necessary instruments for surgeries and hospital departments, requiring attention to detail and dedication.

  • Inspect, assemble, and test general and specialty instruments for proper functioning, report or replace malfunctioning instruments.
  • Operate and maintain sterilization equipment, document all processes, including testing, temperature, humidity, and equipment maintenance.
  • Prepare, assemble, and package instruments for surgeries and departments.
  • Ensure accuracy in preparing surgical sets, instruments, and trays.
  • Prepare case carts based on surgical procedures.
  • Maintain inventories and supplies in OR storage areas, lockers, and carts.
  • Audit trays and track loaner equipment, maintain records for infection control.
Qualifications Needed:
  • At least 1 year of sterile processing experience or related training.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Completion of an accredited Sterile Processing program (preferred).
  • Certification through IAHCSMM or CBSPD, required within 6 months of hire.
