Qualifications

Job Summary and Qualifications

As a Sterile Processing Technician, you play a vital role in ensuring patient safety and well-being. Your responsibilities include meticulously cleaning, decontaminating, assembling, sterilizing, and storing all reusable surgical instruments. You are essential in providing necessary instruments for surgeries and hospital departments. Your attention to detail and dedication are crucial in delivering high standards of care. Thank you for your invaluable contribution to our team.

  • Inspect, assemble, and test general and specialty instrumentation for proper functioning. Identify tray types and malfunctioning instruments, replacing or reporting issues.
  • Operate and maintain sterilization equipment such as autoclaves and ultrasonic washers. Maintain accurate documentation of all sterilization processes, testing, and machine maintenance.
  • Prepare, assemble, and package instruments for surgery and other departments.
  • Ensure surgical sets, instruments, and trays are correctly prepared according to procedures.
  • Pull case cart sheets and prepare case carts for surgical procedures.
  • Maintain inventories and supplies in storage areas, lockers, carts, and equipment.
  • Audit trays and track loaner equipment, maintaining accurate records for infection control.
  • Create and update records related to inventories, sterilization, and infection control testing.
Qualifications:
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in sterile processing or related training.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Completion of an accredited Sterile Processing program (preferred).
  • Certification in Sterile Processing through IAHCSMM or CBSPD (preferred).

St. David’s Round Rock Medical Center is a 200+ bed acute-care facility located north of Austin, Texas. It features the only hybrid operating room in the county, a 24-hour emergency department with a Level II trauma center, and advanced cardiac care through the Heart Hospital of Austin. Patients also receive care in rehabilitation, women’s services, cancer care, neurology, joint replacement, and orthotics, among others.
