Job summary

Froedtert Health in Milwaukee, WI is seeking a Sterile Processing Technician to join our on-site hospital team. Under general supervision, you will decontaminate, process, sterilize, and distribute instruments and supplies.

Candidates should have a high school diploma; completion of Central Sterile coursework is preferred; one year healthcare experience preferred. Strong attention to detail, basic math, and good communication are important.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent is required.
• Successful completion of Central Sterile coursework preferred.
• Certification-Sterile processing is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Decontaminate, process, sterilize, and distribute instruments and supplies.
• Operate and monitor cleaning/sterilization equipment.
• Maintain records per AAMI, AORN, Joint Commission, OSHA.
• Follow equipment operating instructions and documentation.

Job Summary:

Under general supervision, performs routine tasks relating to the decontamination, processing, sterilization, and distribution of instruments, equipment and sterile supplies. Operates and monitors cleaning/sterilization equipment. Maintains records in compliance with AAMI, AORN, Joint Commission, and OSHA standards. Other duties as assigned.

EXPERIENCE PREFERRED:

One year of related healthcare experience is preferred.

EDUCATION REQUIRED:

High School diploma or equivalent is required.

EDUCATION PREFERRED:

Successful completion of Central Sterile coursework preferred.

SPECIAL SKILLS REQUIRED:

Ability to read and write necessary to comprehend and follow equipment operating instructions, IFUs and complete required documentation. Basic arithmetic calculations necessary to count instruments and complete count sheets are required. Basic computer, problem-solving and good communication skills are required.

LICENSURE PREFERRED:

Certification-Sterile processing is preferred
