Job summary

Required: high school diploma or equivalent; preferred 2 years of sterile processing experience or graduate of an accepted course. Certifications such as CRCST, CSPDT, or CFER are preferred. Ochsner is an equal opportunity employer.

Qualifications

• Requires knowledge of sterile processing principles and infection control.
• Experience with instrument care and sterilization workflows preferred.
• Proficiency with medical software and documentation tools is expected.

Responsibilities

• Performs general and specialized instrument care duties.
• Provides supplies as needed for surgical procedures.
• Disassembles and cleans critical reusable medical equipment in accordance with MIFU.
• Inspects, packages, and reassembles surgical instruments and trays according to established priority.
• Practices High Level Disinfection, Pre-Vacuum Sterilization, Gravity Displacement Sterilization, and Hydrogen Peroxide Plasma Sterilization techniques in accordance with MIFUs.
• Maintains records and documentation as defined in SOPs and regulatory standards.
• Adapts communication and duties to patient population and staff needs.
• Performs other related duties as required.
