Job summary

Allina Health is seeking a Sterile Processing Technician to prepare surgical instruments and supplies for procedures. The role involves decontamination, cleaning, sterilization, and safe handling following strict infection control guidelines.

Expect to manage instrument sets, labels, and documentation, with opportunities to work evening/night shifts and occasional weekends as part of a 1.0 FTE schedule. Certification within 18 months is part of the requirements.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age with education and/or experience needed to meet required principle competencies as listed on the job description.
• High school diploma or GED required; vocational/technical training preferred in instrument specialization or central supply.
• Experience in Sterile Processing or formal training in Instrument Specialist, Central Supply, or Surgical Technology preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provides sterile equipment and supplies to surgery and other departments as required.
• Performs decontamination, cleaning, sterilization and processing of supplies and equipment following guidelines from agencies and hospital infection control.
• Assures instruments are clean and free of foreign matter in preparation for sterilization.
• Assembles instrument sets and trays accurately.
• Packages and labels items for correct sterilization method.
• Follows safety standards and infection control guidelines in decontamination and processing.

Education

High school diploma or GED

Vocational/Technical training in Instrument Specialist, Central Supply, or Surgical Technology
