Job summary

University of California, Irvine Health is seeking a Central Sterile Technician to join our busy sterile processing team. You will decontaminate, clean, process, and sterilize supplies and equipment across the hospital and clinics, ensuring readiness for the operating rooms and ambulatory centers.

The role requires formal training in Sterile Processing or Surgical Technology, or 18 months of relevant experience, and the ability to float between UCI Health locations.

Qualifications

• Successful completion of an accredited school of Sterile Processing or Surgical Technology or 18 months relevant Sterile Processing experience
• Required to float between all UCI Health locations as needed
• Knowledge and practice of infectious control techniques and medical terminology
• Ability to work variable shifts including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays

Responsibilities

• The Central Sterile Tech is responsible for the decontamination, cleaning, processing, and sterilization of supplies and equipment dispensed by the department throughout the hospital and outlying clinics.
• Will also perform charging, billing and logging of service as well as patient charges for the OR. Performs daily biological testing. Participates on special projects and departmental and medical center-wide performance improvement projects as requested.
