Job summary

Houston Methodist is seeking a Sterile Processing Technician to decontaminate, assemble, inspect, wrap and sterilize surgical instruments for Surgical Services and ancillary departments. You will support OR staff to provide sterile products, trays, and case carts, while maintaining safe, efficient workflows.

The role emphasizes strong customer service, adherence to universal precautions, and effective communication with the healthcare team to ensure patient safety and quality care.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Formal Sterile Processing program preferred.
• CRCST or CSPDT certification within 1 year is required.

Responsibilities

• Performs decontamination and assembling of basic surgical trays and instrumentation.
• Wraps/contains items and ensures timely sterile products and carts for OR.
• Sterilizes instruments per manufacturer instructions and policies.
• Maintains workflow between OR and Sterile Processing with customer service focus.
• Follows universal precautions and preserves patient and staff safety.
