Qualifications

• High school grad or equivalent required.
• Technical or vocational training preferred.
• Field of study in healthcare sterile processing recommended.
• Florida background screening may apply.

Responsibilities

• Selects appropriate materials and sterilization packaging for aseptic technique.
• Ensures sterility indicators and lot stickers are present on all instrument sets.
• Operates complex sterilization equipment, selecting the correct method of sterilization.
• Reviews and signs sterilizer charts to verify parameters before release.
• Monitors sterilizer printouts and maintains records.
• Identifies and segregates reusable items for decontamination and cleaning.
• Disassembles and inspects items for damage or missing components.
• Assembles instruments and sets, recording in tracking system.
• Utilizes recall process for sterilization failures and notifies supervisors.
• Communicates with hospital departments to resolve issues.
• Rotates assignments across decontamination, tray assembly, sterilization, equipment management.
• Participates in training and department meetings.
• Other duties as assigned.
