Job summary

AdventHealth in Overland Park, Kansas is seeking a Sterile Processing Technician to prepare and sterilize instrument sets, ensuring aseptic technique and proper documentation. The role involves operating sterilization equipment, maintaining logs, and coordinating with hospital departments to ensure timely instrument availability.

Required CRCST and CSPDT certifications, High School Graduation, and preferred experience in sterile processing.

Ability to work under stress and meet deadlines.
Medical terminology knowledge.
Understanding of microbiology, aseptic principles and infection control as they apply to sterile supply.
Knowledge of preventing cross contamination and nosocomial infections.
Knowledge of instrument care, assembly and cleaning.
Ability and experience with computer systems (preferred).

Responsibilities

Selects materials and sterilization packaging for instrument sets.
Operates sterilization equipment and verifies parameters.
Maintains sterilizer charts and records.
Identifies reusable items for decontamination and disinfection.
Assembles instruments and records in tracking system.
Participates in training and rotates assignments across decontamination and sterilization areas.
