Job summary

UMass Memorial Health is seeking an Instrument Technician in Central Sterile Supplies to assemble, package, sterilize and distribute surgical instruments and care equipment. You will operate autoclaves, monitor sterilizers, perform tests, and maintain logs daily.

The role requires a high school diploma (CRCST preferred) and knowledge of sterilization standards. The position includes responsibilities for stocking, clerical tasks, and weekend/holiday on-call coverage.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent is required.
• CRCST certification preferred.
• Basic knowledge of sterilization standards and procedures.
• Ability to use the department's computerized system and its devices.

Responsibilities

• Operates autoclave units and ensures proper function.
• Inspects autoclaves for malfunctions and reports to Manager.
• Performs daily biological and chemical tests and logs results.
• Assembles, packages and sterilizes items per guidelines.
• Loads, operates and cleans sterilizers and equipment.
• Stocks supply carts and maintains department cleanliness.
• Takes call on weekends/holidays and participates in improvement activities.
