Job summary

Mercyhealth is seeking an Instrument Reprocessing Technician to care for and reprocess surgical instruments, including decontamination, disinfection, testing, assembly, packaging, labeling, high-level disinfection, and sterilization.

The role supports 32 hours per week with daytime shifts, and requires following established procedures with attention to safety and quality. Training on the SPM Instrument tracking system and IUSS is provided.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Ability to follow both written and oral instructions accurately and consistently.

Responsibilities

• Disassembles, inspects and prepares instruments for decontamination per IFU and PPE.
• Loads and operates washers and ultrasonic cleaners; manually decontaminates and disinfects instruments.
• Inspects instruments for damage and tests function and sharpness.
• Assembles instrument sets and replaces missing items to complete sets.
• Prepares instruments for sterilization using aseptic technique and wraps or labels packages.
