Job summary

Baystate Health is seeking a Supervisor for the Sterile Processing Department (SPD) Operations in Springfield, MA. The role oversees daily operations, staffing, training, and discipline, with responsibilities including QA, assignment of work, and readiness for emergencies.

The position requires 3+ years leading sterile processing and CRCST with a specialty certification. The SPD Supervisor works to foster a positive work environment, coaches staff, and supports performance evaluation processes

Qualifications

• 3+ years of leadership in sterile processing.
• CRCST or equivalent with one specialty (e.g., Certified Endoscope Preprocessor, Certified Instrument Specialist, or Certified Healthcare Leader).
• Experience coordinating staff and quality assurance.

Responsibilities

• Promote Baystate Health values and delivery of safe patient care in sterile instrument processing.
• Create and maintain a positive work environment; facilitate open communication.
• Coach, mentor, and role model staff development; provide constructive feedback.
• Identify and manage conflicts promptly and effectively.
• Foster collaborative problem-solving across disciplines.
• Support unit and institutional changes; serve as a resource to staff.
• Assist manager with performance appraisals and coaching.
• Support staff education and partner with educators for needs assessment.
• Promote an environment of trust, respect, and integrity.
• Monitor policies to align with process improvement.
• Oversee daily assignments and supervise SPD technicians and service coordinators.
• Manage daily department operations and readiness for emergencies.
• Forecast and manage staffing according to schedules.
• Identify QA needs and communicate to managers.
