Job summary

Salem Health Hospitals and Clinics is seeking an SPD Supervisor in Salem, Oregon to lead the Sterile Processing Department. This full-time role will oversee staff, schedules, instrument tracking and quality assurance to ensure instruments and equipment are available for surgical cases.

You will mentor the team, coordinate education, and collaborate with operating room staff to maintain regulatory standards and high-quality patient care.

Qualifications

• Minimum of two years SPD Tech experience.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Sterile Processing Department manager with interviewing, hiring, performance evaluations, corrective actions and staff development.
• Lead daily department operations by serving as the floor supervisor, facilitating shift reports, resolving operational challenges and supporting leadership initiatives.
• Develop and deliver staff orientation, continuing education and certification support while maintaining education records and coordinating in-service training.
• Manage the instrument tracking system by maintaining count sheets, updating databases, coordinating system enhancements and generating operational reports.
• Coordinate instrument purchases, repairs, replacements and loaner instrumentation workflows to ensure clinical readiness.
• Promote regulatory compliance by monitoring sterilization processes, conducting quality assurance activities, supporting infection prevention efforts and ensuring adherence to industry standards.
• Develop and manage staff schedules, adjust daily staffing levels to meet operational needs and review timecards for accuracy.
• Partner with operating room teams and Sterile Processing staff to identify instrumentation needs, resolve issues and ensure surgical cases are fully supported.
• Communicate departmental updates, workflow changes and operational priorities while fostering collaboration across teams.
• Maintain a safe, efficient and high-performing department by coaching staff, solving problems and supporting continuous process improvement.
