Job summary

AdventHealth in Tampa, FL seeks a Sterile Processing Department leader to oversee personnel, policies, and quality assurance for sterilization of instruments and equipment. You will coordinate with Surgery leadership to ensure instrument availability and compliance with AAMI and OSHA standards.

The role requires 6+ years in sterile processing, CRCST or CSPDT or RN/LPN licensure options, and a bachelor’s preferred. Strong leadership, documentation, and regulatory knowledge are essential.

Qualifications

• Ability to communicate effectively in English, both written and spoken.
• Knowledge of AAMI, IAHCSMM, OSHA, and infection prevention standards.
• Knowledge of surgical instrumentation and sterile processing.
• Ability to manage stress and handle challenging situations.
• Computer literacy and familiarity with tracking systems.
• BLS certification is required.
• Experience with instrument tracking systems preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provides consultation to supervisors in resolving complex administrative issues.
• Manages personnel, financial, and operational activities of the Sterile Processing Department.
• Ensures compliance with administrative and regulatory standards.
• Plans, implements and manages policies, procedures, and quality assurance for sterilization of instruments.
• Maintains records for processing instruments, trays, and materials output.
• Provides leadership to supervisors, coordinators, and technicians to ensure customer satisfaction and fiscal responsibility.
• Collaborates with Surgery leadership to meet daily instrumentation needs and liaises between Central Services and hospital departments.
• Establishes and maintains sterilization, safety, and security standards per regulatory bodies.
• Manages personnel actions including hiring, promotions, transfers, and scheduling.
• Ensures appropriate staffing and assists leaders in associate relations issues.
• Participates in system-wide committees on sterilization and disinfection.
• Assists in evaluating new products and equipment through committees.
