Job summary

AdventHealth in Tampa, Florida is seeking a Full-time Sterile Processing Technician to provide hands-on instrument inspection, tray development, and education to surgical teams. The role supports instrument repair, inventory management, and adherence to regulatory standards in a fast-paced SPD environment.

The candidate must have sterile processing experience and hold CRCST or CSPDT certification, with a preference for completion of the sterile processing core curriculum and a High School

Qualifications

• Sterile processing experience is required.
• CRCST or CSPDT certification is required.
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Completed sterile processing core curriculum.

Responsibilities

• Provides new employee precepting on instrument inspection and assembly.
• Works with new surgeons on tray development and provides in-service education with SPD educator.
• Manages instrument repair and maintenance, ensuring proper tracking and timely return of items.
• Updates instrument count sheets and maintain the instrument tracking system.
• Collaborates with service coordinators to determine set contents and evaluate instrument utilization.
• Demonstrates clinical competence in sterile processing and adheres to regulatory requirements.
• Communicates effectively both verbally and in writing and accurately documents information.
• Deals efficiently and effectively with a wide variety of individuals.
• Manages instrument inventory, including tracking, ordering, and maintaining par levels.
• Identifies reasons for missing instruments and implements process improvements to reduce missing items.
• Remains calm and focused during stressful and emotionally charged situations.
