Job summary

The Medical University of South Carolina is seeking a Sterile Processing Lead Technician to oversee decontamination, assembly, sterilization and distribution of instruments in a fast-paced hospital setting.

You will support training, quality assurance, and workflow coordination within the SPD while ensuring regulatory and hospital standards are met. The role emphasizes leadership, adherence to safety practices and teamwork.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• CRCST – HSPA or CBSPD certification required or maintained.
• Minimum of two years sterile processing experience, preferably in hospital/surgical setting.
• Knowledge of sterilization principles, microbiology and infection prevention.
• Knowledge of instrument names, functions and specialty sets.
• Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
• Basic computer proficiency for documentation.

Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day guidance and oversight of sterile processing operations.
• Ensure instruments, trays, and equipment are properly decontaminated, assembled, sterilized and distributed per standards.
• Support training, quality assurance, and workflow coordination within SPD; mentor team members.
