Job summary

North Carolina Specialty Hospital seeks a Sterile Processing Supervisor to oversee the SPD department and staff. You will ensure proper care and maintenance of instruments, aseptic technique adherence, and communication with OR staff. The role requires leadership, knowledge of SPD processes, and compliance with safety standards.

Responsibilities include QA documentation, data reports for leadership, and continuous process improvement while maintaining confidentiality and patient safety.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Sterile Processing program completion from an accredited institution or equivalent SPD experience.
• Certification required for Supervisor position with 3–5 years in SPD.
• Effective communication skills; both orally and written.
• Ability to work with others within a team to ensure quality patient care.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily SPD operations and staff.
• Verify decontamination/sterilization documentation as required.
• Maintain QA/QI testing and daily monitoring logs.
• Collect data and prepare reports to support equipment/instrument decisions.
• Staffing of the department for daily schedules.
• Review and revise policies and procedures as needed.
• Adhere to hospital policies and regulatory standards.
• Coordinate with OR staff for equipment needs.
• Maintain patient privacy and confidentiality.
