Job summary

Michigan Medicine is seeking a Sterile Processing Supervisor to plan, coordinate, and supervise sterile instrument processing for the Central Sterile Processing Department. The role emphasizes safety, quality, and collaboration across hospital staff and CSPD teams.

Responsibilities include directing daily shift operations, scheduling, quality checks, and staff development while ensuring adherence to university and regulatory standards.

Qualifications

• Current certification through CBSPD or HSPA.
• HS Diploma or equivalent.
• A minimum of three years of experience in sterile processing.
• Extensive knowledge of OR and clinical instrumentation.
• Demonstrated competency in Excel, Word and Outlook.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills to clearly express ideas and techniques.
• Organized, self-motivated, good communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Directs the daily supervision of all shift work (receiving, decontamination, cleaning, assembly, sterilization and distribution of surgical or procedural instruments and packs).
• Schedules staff assignments on a daily basis. Assists the CSPD manager with monthly staff schedule.
• Assures adherence to all quality systems, checks and measures.
• Assists the manager with all hiring, evaluation, counseling and termination of staff.
• Maintains safety standards to assure compliance with University, state and federal codes or regulations.
• Responsible for employee productivity, employee presence in the workplace, and employee adherence to break times.
