Job summary

Northwestern Medicine is seeking a Sterile Processing Supervisor to lead daily OR and Sterile Processing operations, ensuring quality, safety, and regulatory compliance.

You will assign staff, oversee instrument processing and inventory, coordinate with OR and vendors, and mentor teammates to support continuous improvement.

The role requires CBSPD or IAHCSMM certification, 5+ years in Sterile Processing, knowledge of surgical instrumentation, and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• Supervisory or coordinator experience in Sterile Processing or related field.
• Experience and knowledge of surgical instrumentation.
• Certification from CBSPD or IAHCSMM required; maintains certification.

Responsibilities

• Supports and enables the delivery of quality patient care service.
• Directs, prioritizes, and adjusts staff work assignments for assigned shift to ensure timely and accurate delivery of OR equipment, supplies, and case carts.
• Assigns staff to job duties to meet patient care demands and staff vacancies.
• Interacts with hospital departments, physician offices, and vendors to assist department operations.
• Promotes a positive impression with staff, vendors, and guests as a resource for end-users.
• Supports quality assurance programs and communicates problems to the manager as needed.
• Assists in education, policy reviews, and training of staff.
• Performs daily OR and Sterile Processing rounds and audits, documents findings.
