Job summary

University of Michigan Health is seeking a seasoned supervisor for Central Sterile Processing. You will direct daily shift activities, coordinate staff assignments, and ensure compliance with quality systems and safety standards. Use your expertise in sterile processing, instrumentation and hospital operations to support patient care.

The role requires leadership, strong communication, and a collaborative approach to work across departments and committees within Michigan Medicine.

Qualifications

• Current certification through CBSPD or HSPA.
• HS Diploma or equivalent.
• A minimum of three years of experience in sterile processing.
• Extensive knowledge of OR and clinical instrumentation.
• Demonstrated competency in Excel, Word and Outlook.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills to clearly express ideas and techniques.
• Organized, self-motivated, good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Dynamic and energetic.

Responsibilities

• Directs the daily supervision of all shift work (receiving, decontamination, cleaning, assembly, sterilization and distribution of surgical or procedural instruments and packs).
• Schedules staff assignments on a daily basis and assists CSPD manager with monthly staff schedule.
• Assures adherence to all quality systems, checks and measures.
• Assists the manager with hiring, evaluation, counseling and termination of staff.
• Maintains safety standards to comply with codes or regulations.
• Responsible for employee productivity and adherence to break times.
• Coordinates workflow and services between departments.
• Leads and participates in in-services and educational offerings.
