Job summary

UC San Diego Health System SPD Supervisor reports to the SPD manager and collaborates with Jacobs Medical Center perioperative leadership to supervise the PM shift, ensuring compliance with policies and efficient operations in the SPD.

You will supervise sterile processing technicians and support staff, coordinate schedules, train personnel, manage equipment, and partner with the OR to ensure trays and instruments are ready for cases, including weekend staffing coverage as needed.

Qualifications

• Seven years of SPD experience or a Bachelor's degree plus three years SPD experience/training.
• Demonstrated ability to supervise staff and manage complex workflows; experience with Excel, Word and Teams.

Responsibilities

• Supervise daily activities of central sterile staff, ensuring quality and productivity.
• Train staff on sterile processing procedures and provide daily guidance and direction.
• Develop schedules to meet staffing and service needs; consult with management on operations and quality improvements.
• Oversee central sterile supply inventory and routine maintenance and calibration of equipment and instruments.
• Identify and troubleshoot equipment performance issues; determine need for service or repairs.
• Participate in updating departmental processes and participate in personnel decisions.
