Job summary

Cengage is seeking an experienced educator to lead the Sterile Processing Technician course and potentially support Surgical Technology instruction. You will deliver engaging content, assess learner performance, and guide certification readiness in a dynamic, career-focused environment.

You will collaborate with instructional designers and subject-matter experts to ensure course relevance, alignment with certification requirements, and robust outcomes for learners pursuing healthcare education

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or comparable mix of education, clinical experience, professional credentials, and teaching experience.
• Professional experience in sterile processing, surgical technology, perioperative services, healthcare education, or related field.
• Ability to teach adult learners in classroom, clinical, workforce, or online settings.
• Familiarity with HSPA certification standards and exam domains.
• Knowledge of endoscope/scope reprocessing and responsibilities of reprocessing personnel.
• Understanding of Surgical Technology practice/education to support coursework.
• Familiarity with TS-C pathways and certification requirements.
• Knowledge of Surgical Technology programs and how education, clinical experience, certification eligibility, and employment connect.
• Ability to interpret learner and assessment data to refine instruction and boost outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Act as the main educator for the Sterile Processing Technician course and support Surgical Technology instruction as needed.
• Facilitate live and asynchronous learning experiences, demonstrations, reviews, and certification prep.
• Provide timely feedback on assignments, assessments, skills practice, and remediation.
• Monitor learner progress, mastery, and risk indicators; intervene early as needed.
• Build a career-focused learning environment aligned with certification standards.
• Mentor learners on certification readiness and career pathways.
• Collaborate with student support, operations, and academic teams to address barriers to persistence.
• Track learner performance data to identify instructional gaps and opportunities for improvement.
• Maintain alignment among course objectives, assessments, and certification proficiencies.
