Job summary

Houston City College seeks an Instructional Faculty member to teach sterile processing and related courses, advise students, and participate in professional development. Responsibilities include delivering courses in various modalities and engaging with diverse learners.

Qualifications

• Must be eligible to teach clinical courses at HCC’s affiliate sites by meeting entry requirements.
• Associate’s degree or higher required; Bachelor’s degree or higher preferred.
• 5 years exceptional work experience plus a sterile processing certificate may substitute for the degree.
• CRCST certification required; CERST, CST preferred.
• Transcript copy of degree and certification must accompany application.
• 3 years current experience in sterile processing/central service or OR.
• Clinical or classroom education skills preferred; experience supervising students in sterile processing preferred.
• Willing and able to teach day, evening and/or weekend classes at multiple sites in the city.
• Proficiency in computing and software; strong communication and organizational skills.
• Ability to inspire students in a learning-centered environment; self-discipline to manage others.

Responsibilities

• Teach courses in person, hybrid, or online modalities; use diverse teaching methods.
• Develop syllabi for each course and submit to department chair.
• Evaluate student progress and communicate results promptly.
• Maintain accurate student records and submit reports on time.
• Provide academic advising and guidance to students as needed.
• Engage in professional development and participate in college service activities.
• Support program accreditation efforts and collaborate with colleagues and communities.
