Job summary

OhioHealth is seeking a Sterile Processing Liaison to support surgeons and patients by coordinating instrument availability and sterilization processes with OR staff and SPD colleagues.

You will ensure timely decontamination, assembly and sterilization of priority trays, maintain accurate tracking, and uphold OSHA safety standards while promoting best practices in sterile processing. Evening shift with full-time hours included.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• IAHCSMM certification or certification within 90 days.
• 3–4 years of sterile processing experience.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with instrument vendors to understand needs for upcoming cases and coordinate SPD processes to ensure instruments are available.
• Coordinate and communicate schedule changes between the OR and sterile processing; expedite decontamination, assembly and sterilization of priority trays; update OR Leads on tray status.
• Review pick tickets daily for next day’s cases to ensure needs can be met without service interruption.
• Responsible for decontamination, disinfection and cleaning of various reusable surgical instruments using mechanical or handwashing methods per OSHA standards.
• Demonstrate knowledge of sterilization processes (steam and chemical) with proper documentation, storage and transport; understand indicators and biological monitoring.
• Enter, modify and search instrument tracking system; understand surgical case prep and retrieve instruments and supplies for scheduled cases.
• Incorporate infection control guidelines during transfer, storage and transport of sterile packages.
• Follow industry standards and best practices per AAMI and AORN.
• Assist in education and training of associates.
