Qualifications

• Requires strong instrumentation knowledge and surgical procedural experience.
• Demonstrates customer service, communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to follow instructions and perform basic calculations; familiarity with infection control standards (AAMI/AORN).

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with instrument vendors to identify case needs and ensure SPD readiness.
• Coordinate and communicate schedule changes between OR and SPD; expedite decontamination, assembly, and sterilization of priority trays.
• Review daily pick tickets to ensure all needs for next day’s cases can be met without service interruptions.
• Handle decontamination, disinfection, and cleaning of reusable instruments per OSHA safety guidelines.
• Understand sterilization using steam and chemical methods; document storage, transport, and indicators.
• Enter and search data in instrument tracking system; prepare instruments for scheduled cases.
• Maintain infection control guidelines during transfer and transport of sterile packages.
• Uphold industry standards (AAMI/AORN) and assist in training fellow associates.
