Job summary

Museum of Science Inc in Miami hosts the UBMS Academic-Year Mentor program, a temporary part-time role that supports underserved high school students through hands-on science and math activities. Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in STEM fields (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) or nearing completion (Junior/Senior).
  • Minimum 2 years of teaching experience in formal or informal settings.
  • Minimum 2 years of mentoring/coaching experience, preferably with underserved student populations.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate a science/math course with hands-on activities and project-based learning.
  • Communicate classroom and preparation needs with program staff.
  • Serve as mentor/role model to underserved high school youth.
  • Help students produce and present projects to demonstrate science knowledge.
  • Ensure students’ safety during activities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
