Job summary

The YMCA of the East Bay is seeking energetic Assistant Teachers for the Y-Kids program. You will support daily operations, plan and implement age-appropriate activities, and foster a Inclusive environment with a focus on STEM, healthy snacks, and positive reinforcement.

Responsibilities include supervising children, ensuring safety, maintaining records, and communicating with families. Candidates should have a High School Diploma and CPR/First Aid, with a willingness to obtain required

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• One year of Early Childhood classroom experience preferred, volunteer or paid experience considered.
• Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic backgrounds.
• At least 18 years of age.
• Pre-employment health screening and TB clearance.
• Current Pediatric First Aid and CPR certificates (15 hours of related training or completed within 90 days of hire).
• LiveScan fingerprint and criminal record clearance.

Responsibilities

• Assist in planning and implementing curriculum within guidelines and prepare supplies.
• Work cooperatively with staff to ensure program quality.
• Help achieve program goals by promoting growth and exploration for children.
• Care for children's health and well-being; provide first aid when needed and report incidents promptly.
• Apply discipline methods reinforcing positive behaviours age-appropriately.
• Report notable behavior to supervisor per policies.
• Maintain clear communication with families, staff, and partners; provide feedback on development.
• Maintain program records and participate in trainings and meetings.
• Keep the center clean and compliant with licensing standards; perform other duties as assigned.
