Job summary

Honda Development & Manufacturing of America is seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer specializing in steering systems in Raymond, OH. You will design, model, and validate automotive steering gearboxes, columns, and linkages to achieve world-class steering feel and safety.

The role involves CATIA-based 3D design, 2D drawings, tolerancing, and collaboration with suppliers, test engineers, and manufacturing plants.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Automotive Engineering.
• 3+ years in automotive steering, chassis, gearbox, or suspension design.
• Advanced proficiency in CATIA V5/V6 including Kinematics workbench.
• Knowledge of automotive casting, forging, and stamping processes.
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Model steering components in 3D and create 2D drawings in CATIA.
• Design castings, forgings, stampings, bushings, springs, and fasteners.
• Perform tolerance stack-ups, kinematic simulations, and structural analyses.
• Collaborate with steering system suppliers, test engineers, and manufacturing plants.
• Lead technical design reviews and mentor junior engineering associates.
