Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Automotive Engineering.
• 3+ years in automotive steering, chassis, gearbox, or suspension design.
• Advanced proficiency in CATIA V5/V6 including Kinematics workbench.
• Knowledge of automotive casting, forging, and stamping processes.
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Model steering components in 3D and create 2D drawings in CATIA.
• Design castings, forgings, stampings, bushings, springs, and fasteners.
• Perform tolerance stack-ups, kinematic simulations, and structural analyses.
• Collaborate with steering system suppliers, test engineers, and manufacturing plants.
• Lead technical design reviews and mentor junior engineering associates.

Honda Development & Manufacturing of America is seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Design Engineer specializing in Steering Systems in Raymond, OH. You will design, model, and validate automotive steering gearboxes, columns, and linkages to achieve world-class steering feel and safety.

Key Responsibilities:

• Model automotive steering components and assemblies in 3D and release 2D engineering drawings using CATIA.
• Design complex castings, forgings, stampings, rubber bushings, springs, and precision fasteners.
• Perform tolerance stack-ups, kinematic simulations, and structural stress analyses on steering assemblies.
• Collaborate with steering system suppliers, vehicle test engineers, and manufacturing plants.
• Lead technical design reviews and mentor junior engineering associates.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Automotive Engineering.
• 3+ years of automotive steering, chassis, gearbox, or suspension design experience.
• Advanced proficiency in CATIA V5/V6 including Kinematics workbench.
• Strong working knowledge of automotive casting, forging, and stamping manufacturing processes.
