Job summary

Drake-Williams Steel, Inc. in Omaha, NE seeks a Production Office Specialist to expedite steel delivery, CNC files, shop drawings, and materials in collaboration with detailing, purchasing, and shop staff to maximize throughput and meet production schedules.

The role involves creating CNC programs, tracking material deliveries, organizing drawings, revising shop releases and BOMs, and maintaining accurate materials records for fabrication processes.

Qualifications

• Ability to understand and carry out complicated verbal and written instructions.
• Ability to use independent judgment in the analysis of work requirements and the determination of alternative methods within standard practices.
• Ability to work under periodic supervision focused on progress and priorities.
• Thorough knowledge of the fabricating capacities of shop processing equipment.
• Good knowledge of information flow required to process Contract jobs and Service Center jobs.
• Excellent ability to read and interpret shop drawings.
• Ability to quickly gain knowledge of the DWS BOM system and computer production system.
• Good PC experience and ability to learn to write CNC parts programs.

Responsibilities

• Expedite the delivery of steel, shop drawings, CNC files, materials and supplies with purchasing and detailing to maximize throughput and meet schedules.
• Work with detailing to use computer files effectively for CNC machines; create and adjust CNC programs as needed.
• Track and ensure delivery of materials needed for jobs, ensuring on-time arrival.
• Collect, organize, and distribute drawings and information needed by shop and other departments.
• Resolve obvious errors and missing information on shop drawings before release to the shop.
• Create shop releases and generate cutting lists, CNC program files, and other fabrication information.
• Make revisions to shop releases, cutting lists, BOMs, CNC programs, and related data.
• Maintain accurate bill of materials for all jobs.
• Schedule and track materials shipped to outside vendors for processing or value-added services.
• Communicate changes to shop drawings/releases and hold notices promptly to relevant personnel.
• Distribute revised shop drawings and update production records to create an audit trail of revisions.
• Other duties as directed by Production Office Supervisors.
