Job summary

Minerals Technologies Inc. is seeking a Steel Mill Service Manager to lead installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of Minscan scanning systems in steel mills and related industries.

The role requires coordinating with customers and operations teams, traveling 50–75% to support installations, with safety-first standards and hands-on technical work across electrical and mechanical domains. Strong communication and problem-solving skills are essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; technical degree or trade certification preferred.
• Mechanical and electrical troubleshooting experience.
• Ability to read wiring diagrams, schematics, and technical manuals.
• Familiarity with hand tools, power tools, and test equipment.
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Valid driver's license and ability to travel.

Responsibilities

• Assist with installation, setup, and commissioning of Minscan equipment at customer facilities.
• Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, and software-related issues impacting system performance.
• Perform repairs, maintenance and calibration of Minscan systems and supporting hardware.
• Diagnose equipment failures and recommend corrective actions.
• Conduct routine inspections and preventative maintenance activities.
• Support technical service personnel during planned outages and emergency service calls.
• Ensure all equipment operates according to company and customer specifications.
• Document service activities, repairs, and equipment performance data.
• Maintain service tools, spare parts inventory and equipment records.
• Provide technical support and training to customers and SMS personnel as needed.
• Follow all company and customer safety requirements while working in industrial environments.
• Travel to customer locations to support installation, maintenance, and repair activities.
