Job summary

Triple-S Steel is seeking a Material Handler to read work orders and move steel to meet customer requirements. This hourly, non-supervisory role reports to Warehouse Supervisor.

You will operate forklifts and cranes, use measurement tools, and work indoors/outdoors in varying weather, ensuring loading accuracy and safety. Must follow safe methods, develop product and inventory knowledge, and communicate with other departments to coordinate routing and customer relations.

Qualifications

• Read and understand work orders and instructions.
• Demonstrate basic math and measurement skills.
• Follow safety rules and use PPE as required.
• Operate equipment such as forklift and overhead crane when needed.
• Move steel to/from storage and production areas safely.

Responsibilities

• Follow safe methods of work at all times and report unsafe conditions.
• Move steel to/from storage or production areas using hand, forklift, or crane.
• Lift and carry up to 50 pounds for up to 25 feet and handle loads safely.
• Configure load based on planned route and maximize trailer load capacity.
• Maintain and safely operate all assigned tools and equipment.
• Identify safety issues and report promptly.
• Work indoors/outdoors in various weather conditions.
• Attend required meetings and perform other duties as assigned.
• Read work orders or receive instructions to determine material needs.
• Plan and organize work independently and in a team.
• Communicate with other departments about routing, safety, and customer relations.
• Demonstrate basic math skills.
