Aerotek is seeking a Fitter Fabricator to join a Detroit-based steel shop. You will set up and lay out steel components from blueprints, cut and fabricate parts, and MIG/tack weld assemblies for final welding. You will verify accuracy against drawings and collaborate with a large weld shop to support production schedules.

The role emphasizes precise layout, stainless and structural steel welding, and a focus on safe, efficient fabrication in a hands-on environment.

Qualificações

• 2+ years of experience fitting and fabricating steel in a production environment.
• 2+ years MIG welding on stainless steel and structural steel.
• 2+ years reading drawings/blueprints and laying out parts per print.
• Proficient in cutting, fitting, and layout for steel fabrication.
• Ability to interpret layouts and ensure accurate fit-up.

Responsabilidades

• Interpret drawings and blueprints to determine layout, dimensions and specs.
• Lay out steel parts in production shop per print and project requirements.
• Cut and fabricate steel pieces to size using shop tools.
• Fit and assemble structural and stainless steel components for proper alignment.
• MIG weld and tack weld to prepare final welds.
• Inspect layouts and fits against drawings for accuracy.
• Collaborate in a large weld shop to support schedules and projects.
• Maintain a clean, safe work area in steel and weld shop.
