Job summary

Detroit-based fabrication shop is seeking experienced Structural Steel Fabricators / Welders to join its shop team. The role involves reading drawings, laying out and fitting components, and producing accurate weldments in a production environment.

You will complete MIG, FCAW, and stick welds, fabricate beams, columns, stairs and rails, and maintain safety and quality standards while meeting project deadlines. Strong layout and welding skills, reliability, and teamwork are essential.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in structural steel fabrication.
• Ability to read shop drawings and perform fabrication with limited supervision.
• Strong fitting, layout, and welding skills.
• Safety-conscious and dependable in a fabricating team.
• Be able to work in a production shop environment with attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Fabricate structural steel components such as beams, columns, channels, angles, plates.
• Build miscellaneous steel items including stairs, rails, frames.
• Read and interpret structural drawings, shop drawings, fabrication details, and weld symbols.
• Perform layout, measuring, fitting, tacking, and welding of steel assemblies.
• Complete MIG, FCAW, and stick welding as required by the project.
